Accommodation

Participants are asked to make their own accommodation reservations. We are happy to provide the information below to assist in your selection. In some cases, special rates have been granted for the Fields Workshop Series. In all cases, to ensure that you get the best possible rate, please mention that you are a university professor/student visiting the University of Ottawa, Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

When making your reservation, please clarify payment and cancellation policies as these vary from hotel to hotel. You should get a confirmation number for future reference. Rates quoted below are in Canadian dollars, are per night, and are subject to applicable taxes.

Unfortunately, we are not able to match participants with roommates. However, we have set up a Facebook group which participants may use to connect with each other (and potentially find roommates). To join this group, login at facebook.com and search for the group 'GRT&EALA' (to get to the groups page on Facebook, click on the small icon in the bottom left corner of the page).

It seems that the block of rooms we booked at the university dormitories have now all been reserved. For those of you planning to attend the summer school and/or conference that have not yet booked a room and are looking for an option that is less expensive than a hotel, we would like to recommend the following.

There are bachelor and 1-bedroom apartments available. Each has either a double or two twin beds in addition to a pull-out sofa and so can easily be shared by two people. The rates (per room) are $340/week (plus tax) for the bachelor apartments and $375/week (plus tax) for the 1-bedroom apartments.

A block of rooms has been reserved until the end of April. The rates are approximately as follows: CAN$162.50/week for a double room with single occupancy (i.e. a double room to yourself) CAN$262.50/week for a double room with double occupancy (i.e. CAN$131.25 per person) CAN$210/week for a small apartment with single occupancy A 10% tax will be added to all the above amounts. Special hotel rates are negotiated for CAUBO/AUCC through the University of British Columbia. The current rates, available to all faculty and staff for Regular Members and College and University Subscriber Members are listed below. Travel

From the airport:	1.1. By Public Transit ( the cheapest and fastest way ) See: www.octranspo.com for fare information. You can get general information on :Public Transit (OC Transpo) Information (613) 741-4390 Use City bus Route 97 (it is the only one at the airport!) Bus # 97 departs from post 14 outside the level 1 Arrivals area . You can leave the bus either at the bus stop Campus or Laurier on the edge of the campus. Cash Fares (exact change only) : $3* (*subject to change) Bus tickets are available at the Ground Transportation Desk located on Level 1 at the centre door of the Arrivals area. Route 97 uses low-floor, fully accessible buses that accommodate wheelchairs. The schedule for bus # 97 is available at the OCTranspo web site along with complete transit way maps. Please note that schedules change on the weekend, so you'll want to check that out by clicking on the "Saturday" or "Sunday" buttons. 1.2. by Taxi Fare: $25-30 average to downtown

From the bus station:	The Bus Terminal is located at 265 Catherine Street between Lyon and Kent St. Information on Schedules and Fares is available at http://www.greyhound.ca or by calling 613-238-5900 or toll-free at 1-800-668-4438. 3.1. By taxi, the trip from the Terminal to the University takes about 5 minutes and costs about $10. 3.2. To travel by local bus, check the OCTranspo web site for route information (there is no direct route to the University Campus. Cash Fares (exact change only) : $3* (*subject to change)
Travelling by car:	If travelling by car, you'll be on highway 417 (the Queensway). Take exit Nicholas Street exit. The edge of campus is at Nicholas and the Queensway. The University of Ottawa and the hotel locations are indicated on the maps section of this web site.
Parking	Check with your hotel or other accommodation choice regarding parking. If hotel parking is not available, there are several municipal parking lots available near campus. For those staying at the University of Ottawa dormitories, parking is offered at an additional charge. Day occassinal parking is available on campus in covered garages, parking meters, and pay and display lots.
