Workshop on Convexity, Monotonicity and Differentiability
March 5 - 7, 1993

PROGRAM
A previous workshop on this topic, held at the Centre de Recherches Mathematiques in Montreal in 1986, was extremely successful at drawing together researchers from a variety of areas in functional analysis, optimization and variational analysis. The focus was on first order theory, and significant outcomes include seminal results on differenetiability of Lipschitz, convex and lower semicontinuous functions, and smooth variational principles.

The aim of the present workshop is to capitalize on substantial subsequent work in this area, especially variational applications, second order thoery and renorming results. Selected topics include: set convergences and generalized derivatives, topological methods (CUSCOS), differentiation of multifunctions, socond-order differentiability, viscosity solutions, applications to optimization, control and nonlinear equations. Some funding for postdoctoral students will be available.
