Frontiers of Applied Mathematics
Description
The Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo will host the “Frontiers in Applied Mathematics” two day workshop. The event will involve full seminars (45 minutes plus ten minutes for questions) by eight speakers. A mix of Canadian and international researchers will be involved, and seminar topics will range over many of the active areas of interest in the Applied Mathematics department. This will include Mathematical Medicine, Mathematical Biology, Environmental Fluid Mechanics, and Dynamical Systems, with the speakers identifying directions they see as ripe for future advancement.
A student poster session will allow students to benefit from the speakers’ broad range of experience, and a moderated discussion on the second day will wrap up the various threads of discussion that result from the seminars.
