MathEd Forum: February 2026 - The Mathematical Transfer Nexus
Description
Mathematics should feel like a continuous story, yet for many students, institutional transitions feel like starting a new book in a different language. This session explores the "Nexus"—the critical points where learners carry their mathematical identity across elementary, secondary, and post-secondary boundaries. We will investigate why skills sometimes fail to transfer and how to help students connect prior knowledge to new, complex contexts. Join us to look beyond grade-level silos and build a "horizon" view of math education, focusing on the tools students need to navigate their journey with confidence.
