Meeting on Open Online Mathematics Instruction
Overview
Building on a workshop held at the American Institute of Mathematics (AIM) in Palo Alto, The Fields Institute will host a series of activities during 2014-15 focused on facilitating the efforts of mathematical scientists to design, develop, and make accessible, quality online content in order to enhance instruction at all levels. This meeting will bring together participants of the February workshop at AIM (http://aimath.org/pastworkshops/moocs.html) with Canadian mathematical scientists, many of whom are involved in the COU/MTCU initiative to support the development of online courses in Ontario universities. For the most part August 5 will be devoted to hands-on sessions during which participants will share their expertise. Representatives from Maplesoft will also discuss the platform they are developing for content management of the online material. August 6th will be devoted to finalizing plans for invited lectures, invited panels, hands-on sessions, poster sessions and a public lecture during the weeklong follow-up workshop in June 2015 at The Fields Institute.
