A Modelling Cycle for the Training in Simulation-Based Engineering Science
As part of the development of a joint specialization in simulation-based engineering science within the mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and aeronautical engineering programs at Polytechnique Montréal, a conceptual model of the modelling process has been developed. The objective pursued with such a representation is as much to support the student in the conduct or critical assessment of engineering projects using simulation, as to coordinate specialized training in this direction. In this presentation, the modelling cycle will first be described, as well as how it was built, adjusted and documented, with the collaboration of professors and students. Its use within a course on finite element analysis in thermofluids will then be shown, along with the perceived effects. The presentation will close with some next steps to consider.
