SHORT ORALS - BREAKOUT ROOM 3 - An Examination of Pivotal Moments that Influenced My Beliefs and Practices about Mathematics Teaching and Learning
The purpose of this research is to better understand, through analysis of my journey as a secondary math educator, experiences that help develop a teacher’s practice and understanding about mathematics teaching and learning. By examining my stories of shifting practice, my research contributes to understanding mechanisms by which significant changes might occur, with a focus on secondary mathematics education. My research uses a personal narrative inquiry, whereby I reflected on significant experiences in my educational journey and used those experiences as data from which to extract themes. I will describe the themes that emerged and discuss implications of this research.
