Workshop on Immersed Lagrangian Cobordisms
Description
Lagrangian Floer homology was introduced in the 80’s by Andreas Floer, in order to prove a conjecture of Arnol’d on periodic orbits. This theory was further developed in work of Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono, Seidel, Kontsevich, and others, and is now well understood for embedded Lagrangian submanifolds. These studies also introduced the Fukaya category which plays a key role in the homological mirror symmetry conjecture of Kontsevich, of great interest to both Math and Physics communities. Cases where proofs of mirror symmetry now exist often require the use of immersed Lagrangian submanifolds. The theory in this context is less known, and technical issues arise due to points of self intersection. Biran and Cornea recently observed that a suitable notion of immersed Lagrangian cobordisms, following the work of Arnol’d and Chekanov, provides a geometric realization of the Fukaya category. This workshop aims primarily at spreading the use of Floer homology for immersed Lagrangians and further developing the approach of Biran-Cornea to understand the Fukaya category. An additional goal is to study potential analogs of this program related to symplectic field theory.
