Course Description

We will introduce Galois cohomology, develop its basic properties, and show how it can be used in several important areas of number theory including class field theory, Iwasawa theory, Stark's conjectures and the inverse problem of Galois theory.

No prior knowledge of cohomology is required as we will develop the theory from scratch. However, graduate algebra and number theory will be useful.
