Abstract:
Ancient solutions play an important role in the study of singularity formation in geometric flows. Their classification is an important problem. In this lecture, I will discuss joint work with K. Choi showing that any noncompact, noncollapsed, convex ancient solution to mean curvature flow in R^3 must be rotationally symmetric.
