I will give an introduction to generalised complex branes as a geometric formulation for the D-branes in string theory, as first introduced by Marco Gualtieri.

The second part of the talk will focus on branes in stable generalised complex manifolds, a type of generalised complex manifold that is generically symplectic. In particular, I will outline the first steps towards a theory of generically Lagrangian branes with boundary.
