Abstract:
How would you find a generating set or even a Gröbner basis of the vanishing ideal of a finite set of points in affine or projective space? The naive approach using ideal intersections does not scale well. Fortunately, the Buchberger-Möller Algorithm offers a more efficient approach. This talk is meant to review the basics of this algorithm and to start a discussion around possible generalizations.
