Disecting Selberg...Sieve!: 1. On the Hardy-Littlewood result on zeros on critical line.
Time permitting we will go over Hardy-Littlewood result which shows that growing with imaginary part of $\sigma$ atleast $O(1/\log T)$ proportion of the total zeroes in the fundamental strip are on the half line. We will discuss a core (Hilbert/Schur?)inequality stategy (on finding maximal value of a binary form on soem sort of ellongated speherical objects.). This highly unnatural (unmotivated) inequality seems to be at the core of large sieve as well as the Selberg sieve and many other results(though i will prefer you not quote me on this). We will fish the audience for a motivated approach to this inequality.
