Abstract:
The KPZ universality class is a loose term for a collection of one-dimensional interface growth models and two dimensional random growth models that all exhibit the same behaviour under rescaling. In this introductory lecture, we will describe the 1:2:3 KPZ scaling, discuss some solvable models in this class and what makes them special, and describe the scaling limit at the center of the class. No background will be assumed.
