Abstract:
The study of real planar curves up to isotopy dates back to antiquity, and remains one of the large outstanding problems in real algebraic geometry. Following the Shapiro-Shapiro conjecture, we have many tools available to investigate rational curves which are maximally inflected. In this talk we will explore the geometry and combinatorics of these curves, and present on conjectures joint with Sottile.
