Eric van Erp and Robert Yuncken have come up with a new approach to study pseudodifferential operators using Connes' tangent groupoid which is equivalent to Hörmander's peudodifferential operators of polyhomogeneous symbol. With Nigel Higson, we have studied this modern setup of van Erp and Yuncken for operators with coefficients in a $C^*-$algebra, mainly motivated by a question in the representation theory of connected real reductive Lie groups.
