This is a survey talk in which I will discuss various results for Sobolev spaces that involve ideas around the Whitney extension theorem. I will discuss the Lusin type approximation of Sobolev functions, a version of the Sard theorem for Sobolev mappings, the Sobolev extension domains and the Lusin theorem for higher order derivatives.
