In this talk we discuss several conjectures on local Arthur packets and L-packets with the aim of understanding wave fronts of these packets. They are motivated and are generalizations of the tempered (generic) packet conjecture introduced in my 1990 Annals paper. We also mention some global consequences of these conjectures. The work is in collaboration with Alex Hazeltine, Baiying Liu, and Chi-Heng Lo.
