Abstract:
K. Bezdek has proposed a strong version of L. Fejes Tóth's classical dodecahedral conjecture. The conjecture states that the surface area of any Voronoi cell in a sphere packing in three dimensions is at least that of the regular dodecahedron. This lecture will describe a remarkably simple computer-assisted proof of the strong dodecahedral conjecture.
