Abstract:
A core result of random matrix theory is that independent random matrix ensembles (with some symmetry conditions) exhibit asymptotically a kind of independence known as free independence. By mixing fixed finite rank matrices with ones with very large rank, the new phenomenon of infinitesimal independence was observed.
I will present a number of random matrix examples which exhibit infinitesimal freeness.
