Susie Wieler recently characterised Smale spaces with totally disconnected stable sets as those arising as a solenoid coming from a continuous surjection. In this talk we will show that Wieler-Smale spaces arising from a local homeomorphism allow us to construct Cuntz-Pimsner models for the usual purely infinite simple C*-algebra associated to a Smale space. We will show how we are able to exploit this construction in various directions.
